FIFA Approves Ghanaian Referees for International Matches in 2026

FIFA has officially named a group of Ghanaian referees who will officiate international matches in 2026. The list includes 23 officials: 10 Centre Referees, 10 Assistant Referees, 1 Futsal Referee, 1 Beach Soccer Referee, and 1 Video Assistant Referee (VAR). Leading the group is Daniel Laryea, who retains his roles as both a Centre Referee and VAR. Notably, Richard Kwaku has been introduced as a new assistant referee, while Portia Oppong has gained recognition in Beach Soccer officiating. The nomination process was managed by Ghana's Referees Committee, which ensured that all selected officials met FIFA's eligibility standards. The approved referees will proudly wear the FIFA badge from January to December 2026, with their retention contingent upon their performance during this period.
