Nutrifoods Ghana Donates GH¢70,000 Worth of Food Items to 1,000 Tema Flood Victims
Nutrifoods Ghana Limited has stepped forward to provide critical relief to communities in Tema and surrounding areas following recent devastating floods. The company, a joint venture between Olam International and Sanyo Foods, donated a variety of food products valued at over GH¢70,000 to aid more than 1,000 individuals displaced or affected by the torrential rains. This initiative is a central part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, reflecting its commitment to supporting the welfare of residents in the communities where it operates. The donation, which included an assortment of essential food items, was delivered to alleviate the immediate nutritional hardships faced by the victims. During the presentation ceremony, Mrs. Marian Sackeyfio, representing Nutrifoods, expressed deep sympathy for those who lost property and livelihoods in the disaster. She emphasized that the company felt a profound responsibility to act swiftly, ensuring that vulnerable families had access to quality food supplies during this challenging recovery period. Receiving the items on behalf of the affected communities, Mr. Dennis Nartey Adjarnor from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) lauded the timely intervention. He highlighted the indispensable role that the private sector plays in national disaster response, noting that government resources often need the support of corporate partners to effectively reach all victims in a timely manner. The contribution from Nutrifoods is expected to significantly bolster NADMO's ongoing relief operations within the Tema region. As Ghana continues to face the challenges of urban flooding, the collaboration between state agencies like NADMO and corporate entities remains vital for building community resilience. Nutrifoods' proactive gesture serves as a significant example of corporate citizenship, demonstrating how local industries can provide a meaningful social safety net during emergencies. The distributed items are being channeled through official NADMO structures to ensure they reach the most hard-hit households in the Tema enclave immediately.
