The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Ghana Digital Centre to equip 2,000 young Ghanaians with essential Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills. This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), represents a significant effort to bridge the digital skills gap and enhance the employability of the nation's youth in the rapidly evolving technology sector.
Malik Basintale, the Chief Executive Officer of the YEA, announced the initiative during a session of the agency’s Accountability Series. He emphasized that the partnership is a core component of the YEA’s broader strategy to diversify employment pathways beyond traditional sectors. By focusing on ICT, the agency aims to prepare young people for a modern job market that increasingly demands digital literacy and specialized technical expertise.
The training program is scheduled for rapid implementation, with the YEA targeting the full enrollment of all 2,000 beneficiaries by the end of November 2026. The Ghana Digital Centre will provide the technical infrastructure and expertise necessary to facilitate high-quality instruction, ensuring that the training meets current industry standards and provides practical value to the participants.
This initiative follows a series of efforts by the YEA to expand its impact on youth development across the country. By partnering with specialized institutions like the Ghana Digital Centre, the agency aims to create a sustainable pipeline of tech-savvy professionals who can contribute to Ghana's growing digital economy. The program is expected to offer participants new avenues for career growth, ranging from software development and data analysis to digital marketing.
