The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has partnered with the Ghana Digital Centre to provide specialized Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training to 2,000 young Ghanaians. The collaboration, which was formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), is designed to enhance digital literacy and create sustainable employment pathways for youth in the country's growing technology sector. This initiative reflects a strategic effort to equip the younger generation with the technical skills required to thrive in a modern economy.
During a session of the Accountability Series, YEA Chief Executive Officer Malik Basintale emphasised that the programme is a key component of the agency's mission to diversify its job creation strategies. He stated that the training will focus on high-demand ICT modules, ensuring that beneficiaries are not only skilled but also competitive in the national and international job markets. The partnership leverages the state-of-the-art facilities and expertise of the Ghana Digital Centre to provide a high standard of instruction and practical experience for all participants.
The Youth Employment Agency plans to move quickly with the implementation of this programme, with a deadline to conclude the enrollment of all 2,000 beneficiaries by the end of November 2026. This timeline underscores the urgency in addressing youth unemployment and fostering digital innovation across the country. As the tech industry continues to expand, such partnerships are expected to play a crucial role in building a robust digital workforce that supports Ghana's broader industrialisation and economic development goals.
