Tragic Death of Nollywood Special Effects Artist James Akaie Following On-Set Explosion

James Abinibi, a film producer and director, has confirmed the tragic death of special effects artist James Akaie, who passed away after a fatal explosion on a movie set in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Akaie, renowned for his work on notable Nollywood films such as "Mai Martaba" and "Dark October," suffered severe injuries during an unauthorized pyrotechnic experiment involving a gas cylinder. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. Two assistants who were present during the incident also sustained burns but are reported to be in stable condition. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the explosion is currently underway, with authorities and the production team cooperating fully. Abinibi expressed profound sorrow over the loss, highlighting Akaie's exceptional talent and vibrant presence in the film industry, stating that he will be remembered for his creativity and dedication to filmmaking.
