Ghana to Host 23rd International Book Fair and 10th Anniversary HAPAwards in 2026 Cultural Showcase

Ghana’s creative and intellectual landscape is set for a significant boost in 2026 with the announcement of two major international events: the 23rd Ghana International Book Fair (GIBF) and the 10th-anniversary celebrations of the Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards (HAPAwards). These events, spanning literature and the performing arts, aim to showcase African talent, foster intellectual growth, and strengthen economic ties between the continent and the global diaspora. Both initiatives emphasize the importance of African narratives in shaping the future and driving economic development through the creative arts.

The 23rd edition of the Ghana International Book Fair is scheduled to take place from August 27 to 30, 2026, at the National Theatre in Accra. Under the theme "Transforming Ghana’s Future Through Books," GIBF Chairman Edward Yaw Udzu officially launched the fair with a call for Ghanaians to rediscover the power of literature. The event serves as a platform to highlight how books can act as a catalyst for national transformation, aiming to engage a new generation of readers and thinkers who will contribute to the country's socio-economic trajectory.

Following the book fair, the cultural focus will shift to Kumasi from October 7 to 9, 2026, for the milestone 10th-anniversary edition of the HAPAwards. Founder Tins Weisinger emphasized the award’s mission to recognize extraordinary African talents and stories on a global stage. The celebration will feature a series of high-profile events, including an African Showcase on the first day, followed by a Creators’ Night and a grand Kings’ Night. These activities are designed to inspire African youth and provide networking opportunities that could lead to increased diaspora investment in the local creative economy.

Organizers for both the GIBF and HAPAwards are actively seeking support from corporate partners to enhance the reach and impact of these programs.
