The Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC), under the leadership of Minister Alhaji Ali Adolf John, has mandated the partial closure of the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO) after a fire incident severely damaged the girls’ dormitory. The fire, which occurred while students were in class, resulted in no casualties. However, approximately 900 students, primarily second-year students, have been ordered to return home. Additionally, some affected third-year students will also be sent home, with plans for their phased return by February 8, 2024. The dormitory, which housed students from Aggrey, Arthur, Ali, and Gbewaa houses, suffered extensive damage. Investigations into the cause of the fire are currently underway, and authorities are working to address the accommodation crisis for the displaced students.
