On January 25, 2026, a massive fire erupted at Sofoline Magazine in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region around 7:00 PM, leading to the destruction of hundreds of shops and mechanic workshops. The blaze, which reportedly started while refuse was being burned nearby, quickly spread due to combustible materials, devastating the area and resulting in the loss of over 100 vehicles, spare parts, and equipment. Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service responded promptly and managed to contain the fire, preventing it from affecting adjacent properties. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported; however, many shop owners and mechanics are now facing significant financial losses as they assess the damage. Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
