A 34-year-old lawyer, Divine Effah-Dartey, along with two accomplices, Mawuli Awadzi Amenyo and Jiang Tao, has been charged in an Accra Circuit Court for their alleged involvement in a fraudulent excavator transaction worth GH¢800,000. The defendants pleaded not guilty to charges of abetment and defrauding by false pretences. The case centers around the deception of businessman Kofi Boateng, who was misled into believing the transaction was legitimate, including the use of a forged Import Declaration Form. Following a hearing, the court granted bail to all three defendants after their legal representatives argued for it. The next court session is scheduled for January 23, 2026, as the prosecution continues to build its case against the trio.
