The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects, 40-year-old Kingsley Ozor and 19-year-old Jeffery Otaigbe, in connection with the suspected sexual assault and murder of an 11-year-old girl in Gomoa Buduburam. The victim, identified as Blessing Innocent, had been missing for several days before the breakthrough in the investigation. Both suspects are currently in custody and are assisting police with their ongoing inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the child's death.
The case began on October 19, 2026, when Blessing’s mother reported her missing to the local authorities. According to investigators, the victim was last seen alive on October 17 at the residence where the two suspects lived. Further inquiries revealed that the younger suspect, Otaigbe, allegedly lured the girl to an unfinished building in the community. It is at this location that the police believe the victim was sexually assaulted before she died.
Following their arrest, the suspects reportedly admitted that the girl had been with them and subsequently led police officers to the concealed site where her body was hidden. The police have since retrieved the remains and deposited them at a morgue for an autopsy to determine the official cause of death. The suspects remain in detention as the police prepare to process them for court on charges related to murder and sexual assault.
