The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has officially launched the Junior Pope Nollywood City in Enugu State, a tribute to the late actor JohnPaul Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope, who tragically passed away in a boating accident in April 2025. This significant project encompasses 150 plots of land, with three plots specifically allocated to Junior Pope's sons, ensuring that his legacy continues within his family.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, AGN President Emeka-Rollas Ejezie highlighted the project's importance in enhancing the welfare of actors in Nollywood, emphasizing the need for affordable land ownership for industry practitioners. The initiative also includes plans for the Junior Pope Creative Hub, which will serve as a center for training and administrative functions, as well as a permanent secretariat for the AGN in Enugu.
The Enugu State Government's support for Nollywood as a key economic contributor was acknowledged during the event. Junior Pope's wife expressed heartfelt gratitude for the honor bestowed upon her late husband, marking the day as a poignant tribute to his dedication and contributions to the film industry.
