Ghana Tourism Authority Extends Deadline for 'December in GH' 2026 Event Proposals

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has officially announced an extension for the submission of event proposals for the 2026 edition of the 'December in GH' campaign. Event organisers now have until September 7, 2026, to submit their concepts for consideration. This extension provides additional time for creatives and promoters to refine their plans for the annual festival, which is scheduled to run from December 1, 2026, through January 3, 2027. The initiative has become a cornerstone of Ghana’s tourism calendar, transforming the country into a global hub for holiday celebrations during the year-end period.

'December in GH' is designed to showcase the richness of Ghanaian culture through a diverse array of experiences, including music, food, fashion, and traditional arts. By curating a wide-ranging calendar of activities, the GTA aims to attract both the Ghanaian diaspora and international tourists, while also encouraging domestic tourism. The campaign serves as a strategic platform to highlight Ghana’s unique hospitality and creative talent, positioning the nation as a preferred destination for festive tourism in Africa. The Authority is particularly interested in events that offer unique cultural value and can contribute to the overall vibrancy of the season.

Organisers interested in participating are encouraged to submit innovative and high-quality event concepts through the GTA’s designated online platform. Successful proposals will be integrated into the official national campaign, benefiting from the Authority’s extensive marketing and promotional efforts. For those requiring further clarification or assistance during the application process, the GTA International Affairs Secretariat remains available for inquiries. This call for proposals highlights the government's ongoing efforts to leverage the creative arts and tourism sectors as vital drivers of economic growth and national branding.

The 2026 season is expected to build on the successes of previous years, further solidifying Ghana's reputation as a leader in cultural tourism. As the deadline moves to September, the GTA expects a surge in creative submissions that will define the festive landscape for both locals and visitors alike. By providing a structured framework for event endorsement, the GTA ensures that 'December in GH' maintains a high standard of quality and safety, offering a world-class experience to all participants.
