Ghana has launched a significant digital transformation initiative within its electricity and water sectors through the commencement of the Regulatory Information Database Management System (RIDBMS) Phase II project. Additionally, the system will deploy advanced digital inspection tools to facilitate real-time data exchange between regulators, utility companies, and the public. These technological upgrades are expected to reduce the latency in regulatory responses and provide a more transparent view of utility performance and service quality.
Over the scheduled six-month implementation phase, the project will focus on integrating these digital tools into the daily operations of the power and water sectors. The automation of data collection is intended to eliminate the inefficiencies associated with manual reporting, thereby fostering a more accountable environment for utility providers. For consumers, the system promises a more responsive regulatory body that can address grievances and monitor service interruptions with greater precision and speed.
