The Ghana Police Service has launched a series of intensive investigations into a wave of violent incidents and mysterious fatalities reported across the Oti, Ashanti, Upper West, and Central regions. These occurrences, ranging from suspected murders to youth clashes and assaults within educational institutions, have prompted authorities to call for public calm while security personnel work to identify perpetrators and restore order. The most severe reports involve the shooting of a 36-year-old man in Nkwanta South and a violent confrontation between youth groups in Wa that left several individuals injured and property destroyed.
In the Oti Region, the Nkwanta District Police Command is investigating the murder of 36-year-old Thomas Adon, who was found dead in Keri. Security personnel discovered Adon’s body with multiple gunshot wounds, and a subsequent search of the scene yielded 15 spent cartridges and other ammunition, which are being processed as evidence. Meanwhile, in the Central Region, residents of Twifo Praso were left in shock after a man in his early 50s was found dead behind the GPRTU office. The deceased, who had recently arrived from Accra to meet his son, was reportedly seen waiting calmly throughout the day before his body was discovered motionless the following morning. Police are currently working to establish the cause of death and locate his family members for further inquiries.
Security concerns have also escalated in the Upper West and Ashanti regions. In Wa, a disagreement at a nightclub spiraled into a violent clash between two youth groups, resulting in serious injuries to at least two people and the destruction of several motorbikes as one group sought retaliation with cutlasses. In a separate incident in the Ashanti Region, police have intervened at Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School following the alleged assault of 18-year-old student Patience Chibu. A 39-year-old caretaker, Eric Buernortey Apaflo, has been arrested after a viral video of the incident emerged, suggesting a misunderstanding between the staff member and students led to the violence.
As these investigations proceed, the Ghana Police Service and military personnel have increased their presence in volatile areas, particularly in Wa, to prevent further escalations. Medical forms have been issued to victims, including the student in Nyinahin, to facilitate forensic documentation of injuries. Authorities continue to urge citizens to provide credible information that could lead to arrests, emphasizing that lawful resolutions must be sought for all grievances to maintain national stability and public safety.
