NPC Ghana Deploys Dedicated Media Team to Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games to Boost Para Sports Visibility

The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Ghana has officially deployed four accredited Media Administrative Officers to Scotland to provide comprehensive coverage for Team Ghana at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. This strategic initiative is designed to significantly enhance the visibility of para sports and ensure that the achievements of Ghanaian para-athletes are documented with depth and professionalism. The team, consisting of Michael Obeng, Bill Eshun, Prince Andrew Dornu Leiku, and Theophilus Sampah, will be responsible for delivering a wide array of content, including news reports, high-quality photography, and exclusive interviews, showcasing the resilience and dedication of the national contingent.

This deployment is a cornerstone of the NPC Ghana Media Administrative Officers Programme, which was established in 2025 to strengthen media representation and promote disability inclusion within the sporting sector. NPC Ghana President Samson Deen emphasized that the presence of these officers is vital for telling the "inspiring stories of courage and determination" that define the para-sport movement. By providing dedicated media support, the NPC aims to not only inform the Ghanaian public but also to inspire a greater national appreciation for athletes competing in disciplines such as para-athletics, swimming, and powerlifting.

Beyond the immediate focus on the Glasgow Games, the initiative serves as a critical preparatory step toward the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games. President Deen highlighted that building a robust media infrastructure now will pay dividends in the long-term positioning of Ghanaian para-athletes on the global stage. He also expressed gratitude to the Government of Ghana and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for providing the necessary logistical support and funding to make this expedition possible. Through this programme, the NPC seeks to foster a more inclusive sporting culture while ensuring that Team Ghana’s journey is celebrated by fans both at home and abroad.
