Ghanaian Fashion Designers Launch New Collections Celebrating Heritage and Elegance

Two prominent Ghanaian fashion designers, Yolanda Koomson and Selina Beb, have recently unveiled new collections that celebrate African heritage and modern elegance.

On December 14, 2023, award-winning designer Yolanda Koomson will launch her Daakye Holiday Collection at a fashion show held at the Kempinski Galleria SLW in Accra. This collection, inspired by the raffia palm culture, showcases a blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design, featuring key pieces such as the Architectural Blazer and Draped Gown. Koomson invites fashion enthusiasts to experience a harmonious fusion of past wisdom and future vision.

In a separate event, Selina Beb introduced The Timeless Collection, a line of bags made from Egyptian leather, at her flagship store in Osu. Inspired by Fathia Nkrumah, the wife of Ghana's first president, this collection emphasizes elegance and cultural legacy. The launch, supported by media personality Anita Erskine, aims to honor womanhood and African identity. The collection includes various styles, such as clutches and tote bags, designed to reflect sophistication and pride in African heritage. Founder Selina Bebaako-Mensah highlighted the collection as a tribute to grace and cultural excellence, inviting fashion lovers to embrace these modern yet heritage-rich pieces.
