Retired Nigerian General and Wife Abducted in Katsina State Amid Rising Insecurity

In a high-profile incident highlighting the deepening security crisis in north-west Nigeria, retired Major General Rabe Abubakar and his wife were kidnapped by gunmen in Katsina State. The abduction occurred on Saturday as the former military spokesperson and his spouse were traveling to a wedding in the Matazu Local Government Area. While the couple was forcibly taken, local reports indicate that their driver narrowly escaped after being shot at during the ambush. The abandoned vehicle has since been recovered and taken to a local police division, according to security sources.
