Hon. Eric Gyamfi Odoom, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Agona West, has commissioned two ultramodern kindergarten blocks to bolster early childhood education within the municipality. The new facilities were handed over to Agona Swedru AME Zion 'B' Basic and Agona Odom AME Zion schools. During the ceremony, Mr. Odoom emphasized that the provision of modern infrastructure is essential for building a strong educational foundation, which is critical for the long-term academic success of pupils in the region.
Speaking at the event, the MCE highlighted the assembly's commitment to expanding educational infrastructure, announcing plans to construct additional kindergarten blocks across other communities. He stressed the importance of employing qualified teachers at the foundational level and urged parents and local stakeholders to take an active interest in their children's schooling. Mr. Odoom noted that the collaboration between the government, parents, and teachers is necessary to achieve the desired standards of quality education in Ghana.
Religious and school leaders welcomed the intervention, noting the positive impact the new blocks would have on enrollment and learning outcomes. Rev. Thomas Arko Akwa commended the municipal assembly for its efforts and pledged the church's support for local enrollment drives. While expressing her gratitude, the Headmistress, Madam Isabella Ersie, took the opportunity to request further assistance, specifically calling for the renovation of the Junior High School block, which currently faces challenges with leaking roofs during the rainy season.
The commissioning was attended by key officials from the Ghana Education Service (GES), who underscored the importance of maintaining the new facilities to ensure their longevity. This development is part of a broader strategy in Agona West to address infrastructure gaps and create a more conducive environment for early learners, ensuring they are well-prepared for the primary and secondary stages of their education.
