Dennis 'Miracles' Aboagye, the former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD) and a prominent New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator, has been released from the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). His release followed a high-profile detention at the Kotoka International Airport upon his return to Ghana, linked to investigations into the alleged misappropriation of GH¢55 million at the IMCCoD. Aboagye was granted bail set at a substantial GH¢50 million with three sureties, a condition his legal team initially described as "cruel and oppressive." Upon his release, Aboagye vehemently denied any wrongdoing, characterizing the allegations as a "false narrative" designed to derail his political aspirations, particularly his bid for the NPP’s National Communications Director position.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin condemned the "Rambo-style" tactics used by EOCO, suggesting that such aggressive methods and excessive bail conditions threaten democratic norms and human rights. He called for the Attorney-General to brief Parliament on the matter. Conversely, Majority Chief Whip Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor defended the actions of the law enforcement agency, asserting that the arrest was the result of extensive investigations and that public officials must remain accountable for their tenure. Meanwhile, NPP supporters staged protests at the EOCO headquarters, demanding transparency and fairness in the handling of the case.
