Samuel Addo, a journalist with Class Media Group, has alleged that he was assaulted by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service while covering an incident at the Kasoa New Market. According to Addo, the incident occurred as he was recording firemen allegedly beating civilians. During the altercation, he reported losing his phone and over GH¢10,000. Although interventions from Member of Parliament Phillis Naa Koryoo helped him recover his phone, the money remains unaccounted for. The Ghana Police have been informed, and a medical examination is currently underway to assess any injuries sustained during the incident. In response to the allegations, the Ghana National Fire Service has denied the claims of assault, asserting that their personnel only confiscated the journalist's phones during the incident. The case has drawn attention to the treatment of journalists in the field and the need for accountability among public service personnel.
