The Church of Pentecost has officially launched its 2026 Medical Missions Outreach in Abesewa, located in the Ashanti Region. This initiative, which was inaugurated on May 14, 2023, is designed to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the local community, addressing critical needs through a partnership involving PENSA International, Pentecost Hospital-Abesewa, and the Bechem Government Hospital. The program reflects the church’s vision to meet the physical, social, and spiritual needs of the people, following a holistic ministry model that combines medical excellence with community support.
The outreach is scheduled to begin with a pre-screening phase in June 2026, followed by the main medical mission from October 2 to 18, 2026. A dedicated team of 125 to 150 healthcare professionals from both Ghana and the United States will be deployed to offer a wide range of services. These include free surgical procedures, ophthalmological care, and general health screenings. Apostle Ebenezer Hagan emphasized that the initiative is a demonstration of Christian compassion, leveraging the church's existing health infrastructure and local partnerships to reach thousands of underserved residents.
Complementing these outreach efforts, health experts in the region are also calling for a more proactive approach to personal well-being. During a recent health awareness event in Kumasi, Agnes Ampofo Agyei, a midwife and Non-Communicable Disease Coordinator, urged women specifically to invest in their health to build a stronger workforce. She highlighted the dangers of undiagnosed conditions such as hypertension and the importance of regular blood pressure checks, nutritious eating, and exercise. Agyei also stressed the necessity of HPV vaccinations and screenings, aligning with the outreach's broader goal of promoting health education alongside specialized medical interventions.
As preparations for the 2026 mission continue, the Church of Pentecost and its partners aim to create a lasting impact on the healthcare landscape of Abesewa and its surrounding areas. By combining specialized gynecological and surgical care with ongoing health education, the initiative seeks to improve long-term health outcomes for families. This strategic outreach underscores the vital role of faith-based organizations in supplementing national healthcare delivery and ensuring that vulnerable populations receive the high-quality medical attention they require.
