Bono East Regional Minister Francis Owusu Antwi has inspected the progress of a 74-kilometre road network project in the Nkoranza North District. Part of the government’s "Big Push" infrastructure initiative, the development is intended to improve regional connectivity and provide a significant boost to the local ecotourism industry. During the inspection, the minister noted that the ongoing works represent a major step in fulfilling the region’s potential as a primary travel destination.
A central focus of the infrastructure drive is enhancing accessibility to major attractions such as the Buabeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary. Mr. Antwi explained that the previously poor condition of roads leading to these sites had created significant barriers for tourists and resulted in substantial revenue losses for the region. By modernizing these routes, the government expects to see an increase in visitor numbers and a revitalization of the hospitality sector.
The road network project involves various phases of construction, with teams currently deployed across several major routes in the Nkoranza North area. The "Big Push" initiative was commended by the minister for addressing transport bottlenecks that have historically slowed down economic activity. He emphasized that the completed roads will not only serve the tourism sector but also improve the movement of agricultural produce and other essential goods.
Looking ahead, the regional administration anticipates that the improved infrastructure will create a ripple effect throughout the Bono East economy. Beyond providing a smoother experience for travelers, the 74-kilometre network is expected to lower operating costs for local businesses and enhance the overall quality of life for residents. The minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to completing the project to ensure sustainable development across the district.
