The Adentan Municipal Assembly and regional authorities in Bono East have commissioned several significant educational infrastructure projects designed to enhance teaching environments and reduce student absenteeism. In the Greater Accra Region, the Adentan Municipal Assembly inaugurated two 18-unit classroom blocks for the Adentan Community School and Otano Presbyterian Basic School, alongside a 2-unit Kindergarten block for the Ashieye Model School. Funded through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), these projects also included the handover of a new maternity block for the Amrahia Community Health Centre. Municipal Chief Executive Ella Esinam Christine Nongo emphasized that while new infrastructure is vital, it must be complemented by quality teaching and adequate resources to ensure academic success.
In the Bono East Region, Regional Minister Francis Owusu Antwi highlighted the completion of legacy projects at Sikaa Presby Basic School and Kronkompe D/A Basic School in the Nkoranza North District. The new facilities address long-standing infrastructural deficiencies; specifically, Sikaa Presby received a three-unit classroom block to replace structures previously destroyed by severe rainstorms, while a six-unit block was completed for Kronkompe D/A. Minister Antwi commended the local District Chief Executive for the efficient use of the DACF, noting that these improvements are essential for providing a safe and conducive environment that boosts student morale and attendance.
Complementing these government-led initiatives, the private sector has also contributed to educational development through corporate social responsibility. Employees from GCB Bank PLC’s People and Culture Department recently refurbished the nursery block at Oblogo M/A Basic School as part of the bank’s 2026 Staff Community Impact Programme. The refurbishment included repairing floors, repainting, and providing new furniture. Across all project sites, school heads including Benjamin Wecha of Sikaa and Judith Afusaa-Kwarteng of Kronkompe expressed gratitude for the upgrades. Regional authorities have urged school management committees and the beneficiary communities to prioritize the maintenance of these new assets to ensure their longevity and continued impact on Ghanaian education.
