Adamus Resources Limited has emerged as the champion of the 2026 Inter-Mine First Aid and Safety Competition, securing the top spot in a contest designed to test the safety expertise of Ghana’s leading mining firms. The event, which was broadcast live on GTV as part of the long-running ‘What Do U Know?’ quiz program, featured five major companies demonstrating their knowledge of emergency response and occupational health protocols. Adamus Resources finished with an impressive 77 points, narrowly outperforming their closest rivals in a high-stakes environment.
The competition saw a tight race for the remaining positions, reflecting the high standards of safety training across the industry. Newmont Ahafo North and Golden Star Wassa Limited both finished with 74 points, sharing the second-place position. They were followed closely by Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, which earned 73 points to take third place, while Damang Golden Ridge finished in fourth with a score of 52 points. The event successfully showcased the technical proficiency required to manage safety in one of Ghana's most critical economic sectors.
Quiz moderator Dan Afari Yeboah praised the participating teams for their brilliance and emphasized the broader mission of the competition: to instill a permanent safety culture within the mining industry. He noted that televising the event provides a unique educational opportunity for the public, particularly for Ghanaian youth interested in the mining sector. By highlighting first aid and safety, the competition aims to ensure that future industry professionals prioritize the well-being of workers as much as production targets.
Adamus Resources, which began its gold production in the Nzema area in January 2011, currently employs approximately 1,000 people. The company’s performance in the competition aligns with its public recognition by the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) for maintaining responsible mining practices. As Ghana continues to develop its mineral resources under the administration of President John Mahama, such industry-wide focus on environmental management and ethical safety standards remains a key priority for sustainable national development.
