The 2026 Luv FM Fitness Walk has once again demonstrated its massive appeal, drawing thousands of residents to the Kumasi City Mall for a day dedicated to physical wellness and community building. The event, which has become a staple in the Ashanti Region’s social and health calendar, saw a diverse turnout ranging from students and corporate professionals to individuals from all walks of life. Setting off early in the morning, participants engaged in a vigorous nine-kilometer walk aimed at highlighting the importance of regular exercise in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The fitness exercise was structured to maximize physical benefits, beginning with an energetic aerobics session at the mall before the main walk commenced. The route took the sea of participants through key areas including Nhyieso and the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, showcasing the vibrant spirit of the Garden City. Upon returning to the Kumasi City Mall, the crowd participated in a concluding round of aerobics to cool down. Notable participation came from the National Ambulance Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, and the Prisons Service, with security personnel emphasizing that physical fitness is essential for effective community service and operational readiness.
Beyond the physical exertion, the walk served as a vital platform for social networking and camaraderie. Participants highlighted how the event allowed them to form new friendships and strengthen corporate bonds in a relaxed environment. Michael Adu Domfeh, Luv FM’s Sales and Marketing Manager, and Maxwell Frimpong Manso, Global President of Opoku Ware School, were among the key figures who voiced their support for the initiative. They, along with several participants, advocated for the event to be held more frequently—possibly on a quarterly basis—to ensure that the momentum for healthy living is sustained throughout the year.
The success of the 2026 edition was bolstered by strong community support and sponsorship. Local partners provided essential refreshments, meals, and giveaways, creating a festive atmosphere that rewarded the participants' efforts. As organizers look toward future iterations, the overwhelming turnout serves as a clear indicator of the growing public appetite for health-centered community events. The walk not only promoted personal well-being but also reinforced the collective commitment of Kumasi residents to foster a healthier, more active society.
