Superintendent William Ayariga of the Criminal Investigation Department’s (CID) Anti-Human Trafficking Unit has issued a public warning regarding criminal syndicates misusing the name of QNET. These individuals are reportedly exploiting the reputation of the legitimate direct-selling company to lure unsuspecting victims into human trafficking schemes. The warning follows reports where lucrative business and job offers are used as bait to trap individuals in exploitative situations.
According to Superintendent Ayariga, while QNET operates as a legitimate business entity, traffickers have adopted its brand identity to establish trust with potential recruits. Victims are often promised high-earning opportunities or international business placements, only to find themselves coerced into trafficking networks once they have committed resources or travelled to specific locations. The CID official emphasized that the misuse of the brand is a tactical move by criminals to mask their illegal activities under the guise of corporate professionalism.
The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit is urging the public to exercise extreme caution before committing to any financial payments or travel arrangements tied to such offers. Superintendent Ayariga advised Ghanaians to conduct thorough background checks on individuals presenting these opportunities. He stressed that verification is a critical step in preventing financial exploitation and physical danger, recommending that suspicious offers be reported immediately to the authorities.
To assist in this effort, the public has been encouraged to reach out directly to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit for verification of business proposals that seem suspiciously lucrative. The CID’s proactive stance aims to dismantle the recruitment pipelines used by traffickers and protect vulnerable job seekers from falling into debt bondage or other forms of modern slavery. Authorities continue to monitor the situation to identify and prosecute those misrepresenting legitimate brands for criminal ends.
