The Northern Regional Police Intelligence Directorate has successfully arrested Hoyeefe Amadu, a key suspect in the Wapuli kidnapping case, during an intelligence-led operation conducted in the early hours of January 20, 2026. Amadu was apprehended near Watugu, Gushegu, following weeks of investigative efforts. This arrest is a significant development in the case, which previously saw the rescue of a 42-year-old victim on December 6, 2025. The victim had been held for a ransom of GH¢100,000, of which GH¢70,000 was recovered by the police. Three other suspects involved in the kidnapping are already in custody and are expected to appear in court soon. The police continue their efforts to ensure public safety and bring all involved in this violent crime to justice.
