The Agona Kwaman Akatanase Twidan family, led by Abusuapanyin Kobina Onyina, has officially announced the passing and funeral arrangements for the late EX WO1 Josiah Stephenson Kingful, affectionately known as "Old Soldier." A respected veteran who lived to the age of 78, Mr. Kingful’s transition marks the conclusion of a life defined by service and dedication. His family and the communities of Adenta and Agona Kwaman are now preparing to honor his memory with a series of commemorative events scheduled for mid-March 2026.
The funeral proceedings will commence on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Resurrection Methodist Church in Adenta Housing Down. A pre-burial service is scheduled from 7:00 am to 9:00 am, followed immediately by the main burial service from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the same venue. Following the church service, the remains will be transported to Agona Kwaman for interment. The final funeral rites will then be held at the Resurrection Methodist Church Car Park on Saturday afternoon, from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm, providing an opportunity for colleagues, friends, and sympathizers to pay their final respects.
The late veteran is survived by a large and diverse family, including his widow, Mrs. Lydia Kingful, and ten children. His legacy extends across international borders, with children residing in the United Kingdom and France, as well as several based in Accra. The family includes children Evelyn Kingful, Roger Kingful, Gloria Ama Kingful, Obed Oliver Kingful, Daniel Roberts Kingful, Salomey Araba Biney, Stephen Ebo Kingful, Gloria Aba Boakye, Francis Agyei, and Florence Adjei. He also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who represent the continued impact of his long life.
To conclude the weekend of remembrance, a thanksgiving service will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Resurrection Methodist Church. This will be followed by a final family gathering at Oyarifa Kaybee, located at 21 Celsus Street, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The Kingful family and the Akatanase Twidan clan cordially invite all friends and sympathizers to join them in celebrating the life of a man who was a pillar of his community and a dedicated "Old Soldier."
