The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) is significantly expanding its industry-aligned educational programs through a series of strategic partnerships and the establishment of specialized centers of excellence. In a major move on July 6, 2026, the university formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the BR Institute, an organization founded by renowned media entrepreneur Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray. This collaboration is specifically designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and entrepreneurial practice, empowering students to transform innovative concepts into viable, commercial enterprises.
A central component of this new partnership is the UPSA-1000 Initiative, which will serve as a high-impact platform connecting students with seasoned investors, industry leaders, and professional mentors. By fostering an ecosystem that prioritizes innovation and commercialization, the BR Institute and UPSA aim to provide students with essential real-world market exposure. The initiative emphasizes mentorship and funding opportunities, ensuring that graduates possess the practical skills and networking capabilities necessary to drive national development and stimulate economic growth in Ghana.
This partnership follows UPSA’s established commitment to sector-specific professional development, recently highlighted by the inauguration of the J.K. Horgle Transport and Logistics Centre of Excellence. Named after the distinguished entrepreneur Dr. Joseph Kweku Horgle, this centre is dedicated to addressing critical skill gaps and coordination challenges in Ghana’s transport and logistics sector. Through a focus on research, professional certification, and policy development, the centre aims to strengthen the nation's economic contributions under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Together, these initiatives reflect UPSA’s strategic vision of integrating industry expertise directly into the university environment. By collaborating with both media pioneers and logistics industry titans, the institution is positioning its students at the forefront of Ghana’s economic evolution. These efforts underscore the university's mission to equip the youth with a robust entrepreneurial mindset and technical proficiency, which officials believe are the vital pillars for sustainable business development and long-term national prosperity.
