The suspects, identified as Godwin Asigeh, the driver of the vehicle, and his assistant, Freeman Amedoku, were apprehended at approximately 12:45 a.m. Police intercepted their Accra-bound Ford Transit vehicle as it approached the checkpoint. Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, officers discovered the large quantity of suspected narcotics, which had been meticulously wrapped in yellow polythene bags to avoid detection.
Following the discovery, the suspects and the Ford Transit were escorted to the Devtraco Police Station for further processing. The 692 parcels have been retained by the police as evidence for the ongoing investigation and eventual prosecution. The Tema Regional Police Command has emphasized that this seizure is a testament to their vigilance and commitment to maintaining law and order and combatting drug trafficking within the region's borders.
