St. Mary’s Seminary and Bueman SHS Secure Historic Victories in 2026 NSMQ Oti Regional Qualifiers

The Oti Region has concluded its regional qualifiers for the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), with St. Mary’s Seminary Senior High School, Lolobi, and Bueman Senior High School emerging as the standout performers. St. Mary’s Seminary successfully claimed the final regional ticket to the national championship in a hard-fought contest, while Bueman SHS etched its name into the competition's history books by becoming the first school from the region to secure the prestigious Riddle Bonanza. These results solidify the lineup of schools that will represent the Oti Region on the national stage.

In a high-stakes encounter to determine the final qualifier, St. Mary’s Seminary SHS delivered a composed performance to finish at the top of their group with 32 points. Their victory came at the expense of Nkwanta Senior High School, which put up a spirited fight to place second with 23 points, and Oti Senior High Technical School, which finished third with 16 points. The win marks a significant achievement for the Lolobi-based institution, ensuring their participation in the 2026 National Championship and effectively ending the campaigns of their regional rivals in this cycle.

Parallel to the qualification battles, Bueman Senior High School achieved a historic milestone during their regional fixture. Dominating their round with a total of 47 points, Bueman SHS won the Riddle Bonanza by successfully solving three riddles in the final round. This feat was particularly noteworthy as they significantly outperformed Kpassa Senior High Technical School, who garnered 21 points, and Boakye Community Senior High School, who finished with 14 points. Boakye Community SHS had notably been granted a second chance in the competition following the absence of another scheduled school.
