The Oti Regional Police Command has dealt a significant blow to drug trafficking operations following the interception of a DAF truck carrying 5,164 parcels of suspected narcotic substances. The operation, which took place on September 14, 2026, was the result of a coordinated intelligence-led effort aimed at curbing the illegal transport of prohibited substances through the region. Police officials confirmed that the massive haul was discovered carefully concealed within the vehicle, highlighting the sophisticated methods employed by traffickers to bypass security checkpoints. During the interception, security personnel managed to apprehend three individuals identified as Abdul Razak Adamu, Jubril Amidu, and Aliu Adamu. A fourth suspect, however, managed to evade capture during the initial operation and remains at large. The arrested trio was subsequently processed and arraigned before a court on September 17, 2026. Following their initial hearing, the suspects were remanded into police custody and are scheduled to reappear in court on October 15, 2026, as investigations into the origin and intended destination of the narcotics continue. The Oti Regional Police Command has reiterated its unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order, specifically focusing on dismantling drug syndicates that use the region as a transit point. Authorities are currently conducting a manhunt for the escaped suspect and have urged members of the public to provide any relevant information that could lead to an arrest. This successful interception serves as a stark warning to criminal elements, underscoring the heightened vigilance of the Ghana Police Service under the current administration's mandate to ensure national security and public safety.
