Prophet Opambour Issues Public Curse Threat Against Stephen Adom-Kyei Duah Amidst Rising Religious Tensions

Tensions in Ghana’s religious landscape have reached a boiling point as Prophet Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom, popularly known as Opambour or Prophet 1, has issued a public ultimatum and threat of a spiritual curse against Prophet Stephen Adom-Kyei Duah. The leader of the Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre expressed his grievances in a viral social media address, signaling a sharp escalation in a long-standing rivalry between two of the country's most prominent and vocal religious figures. The confrontation marks a shift from indirect references to a direct and personal challenge that has captured the attention of the Ghanaian public.
The root of the recent outburst stems from a series of perceived slights and subtle jabs exchanged between the two leaders over several weeks. Prophet Adom-Kyei Duah, the founder of the Believers Worship Centre—often referred to as the 'Philadelphia' movement—has reportedly been at the receiving end of Opambour’s ire following comments that were interpreted as disrespectful or undermining. In a recent video circulating on social media, Opambour was seen visibly frustrated, declaring that he would no longer tolerate the provocations and was prepared to seek spiritual retribution through curses if the behavior continued.
This public feud has sparked intense debate among followers and the wider Ghanaian community, highlighting a recurring trend of public disagreements among high-profile clergy members. While such exchanges are often seen by critics as a distraction from the core tenets of religious leadership, they frequently draw massive engagement on digital platforms, where supporters of both prophets trade defenses and accusations. The use of strong language and threats of spiritual consequences serves to further polarize the congregations, creating a climate of division rather than the unity typically preached within the faith.
As the situation develops, there are calls from some quarters of the religious community for mediation by senior clergy or the Christian Council of Ghana to prevent a further breakdown of decorum. For now, the 'war of words' shows little sign of cooling down, with social media acting as a primary conduit for their grievances. Whether this confrontation will lead to a formal reconciliation or descend into more profound spiritual and personal conflict remains to be seen, but it highlights the complex intersection of religion, personality, and social media influence in contemporary Ghanaian society.
