Archbishop Agyinasare Leads Call for Responsible Social Media Use and Practical Faith Among Ghanaians

Archbishop Dr. Charles Agyinasare, Founder of Perez Chapel International, has issued a stern warning to Ghanaians against the normalization of ‘information disorder’ and abusive language on social media. Speaking during recent services in Accra, including the Breakthrough Conference, the Archbishop emphasized that the widespread use of smartphones and digital platforms carries a profound responsibility. He urged citizens to maintain decency and mutual respect in public discourse, condemning the trend of spreading unverified allegations and personal attacks that compromise the dignity of others. To combat this, he introduced a ‘four-fold test’ for users to apply before sharing content, focusing on truth, graciousness, and whether the information reflects the values of their faith. Supporting this call for integrity in public life, other prominent religious leaders have emphasized that spiritual growth must manifest through tangible results and character development. Prophet Nana Yaw Adams, Head of Mercy House Chapel, recently urged Christians to approach prayer with an expectation for visible outcomes. Speaking on the theme ‘Matters of the Heart,’ he argued that spiritual alignment with God should yield practical interventions in the lives of believers. He encouraged a deeper prayer life rooted in the reliability of God’s character, asserting that faith is not merely an abstract concept but a force that should produce observable change. In a similar vein, Minister Richard B. Boadu of the Church of Christ Lebanon has highlighted that spiritual maturity is a deliberate process achieved through active service and perseverance rather than mere church attendance. He noted that true maturity is reflected in a person’s wisdom, responsibility, and obedience to God. Minister Boadu urged Ghanaians to view life’s hardships as opportunities for growth rather than causes for bitterness. By focusing on contributions to the community rather than personal gain, he argued that believers can ensure their spiritual development positively influences their homes, schools, and workplaces. These calls for responsible conduct and practical faith are being mirrored at the grassroots level in Accra. At the Neoplan bus station, a group of Christians led by Boateng Bismark James gathers daily before the morning rush to engage in sessions of praise, worship, and prayer. The group, which includes 13 regular worshippers, uses drumming and dancing to create a vibrant atmosphere, specifically praying for the safety of drivers and passengers embarking on journeys across the country. This practice serves as a localized example of the broader clerical call to integrate faith with the safety and well-being of the wider community. Collectively, these messages from Ghana’s religious community signal a push toward a more disciplined and results-oriented approach to both digital and physical interactions. As social media continues to shape public opinion and community life, the emphasis on fact-verification and respectful dialogue remains a critical priority for national stability. By linking spiritual maturity to community service and responsible speech, these leaders are advocating for a civic culture where faith serves as a foundation for both personal growth and national progress.
