In a significant crackdown on drug-related activities, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) arrested 72 individuals during ‘Operation White Ember’ across the Eastern and Greater Accra regions. The operation, which took place on December 26, 2025, targeted known drug hotspots, successfully dismantling several drug dens in areas such as Mamfe, Tutu, and parts of Greater Accra including Madina Redco Flats and Zongo Junction. Following the initial raids, NACOC continued its efforts with additional operations in Tema Community One and Teshie Nungua, leading to more arrests and the seizure of various narcotics, including ecstasy and methamphetamine. NACOC's proactive approach included patrols at malls and beaches, aimed at curbing drug-related activities during the festive Christmas season, highlighting their commitment to ensuring public safety.
