Ghanaian international Kwasi Sibo is set to make his competitive debut for Libyan club Al-Swehly in a crucial CAF Champions League fixture this Sunday. The midfielder, who moved to the North African side during the summer transfer window, is expected to be a central figure in the team's second preliminary round clash. They are scheduled to face Tunisian powerhouse Espérance Sportive de Tunis, one of the most decorated clubs in the history of the competition.
Sibo’s move to the Libyan league followed a tenure in European football, and his arrival at Al-Swehly was viewed as a strategic acquisition to bolster the club's continental ambitions. Despite the anticipation surrounding his signing, Sibo was not part of the matchday squads during the first preliminary round of the tournament. His return to full availability comes at a critical juncture, as the Libyan side prepares for the formidable task of overcoming a Tunisian opponent with extensive experience in high-pressure CAF matches.
The upcoming match in the second preliminary round serves as the final hurdle before the lucrative group stages of the CAF Champions League. For Sibo, the debut provides an immediate platform to demonstrate the skill set that earned him a place in the Ghana national team. A strong performance against Espérance would solidify his position in the Al-Swehly starting lineup and provide the Libyan side with the momentum needed to advance further into the tournament, marking a significant start to his career in North Africa.
