The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has launched a Medical and One Health Outreach programme in Anwomaso as part of its landmark 75th Anniversary celebrations. The initiative underscores the university’s mandate to bridge the gap between academic research and community welfare, providing integrated healthcare services to residents in its surrounding areas. This outreach reflects a broader commitment to utilizing the university's intellectual resources for the direct benefit of the Ghanaian public, ensuring that academic excellence translates into improved living standards for nearby communities. Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christian Agyare, Professor Francis Kemausuor highlighted that the outreach is a testament to KNUST's dedication to public health. He emphasised the One Health approach, which integrates multiple health disciplines to tackle complex medical challenges by recognizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. Prof. Kemausuor urged the participating health professionals and volunteers to exercise the highest levels of compassion and professionalism while serving the local population, noting that their work represents the university's core values in action. Professor Fred Stephen Sarfo, Provost of the College of Health Sciences, noted that such initiatives are vital for translating university-level knowledge into tangible community benefits. Local leaders also welcomed the intervention; Nana Akwasi Poku, a prominent community leader, expressed deep gratitude to the university for choosing Anwomaso for the exercise. He called for continued collaboration between the academic institution and traditional authorities to ensure sustainable health outcomes for the region and expressed hope for future health initiatives in the area. As KNUST continues its 75th-year festivities, this outreach sets a precedent for how higher education institutions in Ghana can play a proactive role in national development. By focusing on both human and environmental health through its multidisciplinary teams, the university reinforces its position as a leader in science and technology for societal advancement. This milestone event marks the beginning of several activities aimed at celebrating the institution's impact over the last seven and a half decades, cementing its legacy as a pillar of progress in Ghana.
