Detectives from the Kira Road Division Police Station in Kampala have launched an investigation into the death of Dr. Mugizi, a 64-year-old university lecturer associated with Victoria University and Makerere University Business School (MUBS). His decomposing body was discovered in his home on January 3, 2026, after his sister reported concerns about his unresponsiveness since December 31, 2025. A neighbor's check led to the grim discovery, with authorities noting that there were no signs of robbery at the scene. Preliminary investigations indicate that Dr. Mugizi may have had a history of chronic illness, although the exact cause of death is pending an autopsy. Victoria University has expressed its condolences, recognizing Dr. Mugizi's significant contributions to education and his dedication as a lecturer.
