The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has announced the promotion of four police officers in recognition of their exceptional roles in dismantling a major armed robbery syndicate in the Upper West Region. The promotions follow a highly successful, intelligence-led operation conducted by the Upper West Regional Police Command, which effectively neutralized a criminal network that had been operating in the Wa West District and Wa Municipality. The IGP and the Police Management Board cited the officers' bravery and dedication as the primary reasons for their immediate advancement in rank.
The promoted personnel include General Corporal Mortsi Kwashie Divine, Detective Corporal Salifu Ishmael Aketisiwin, General Lance Corporal Ernest Ameyaw Akumfi, and General Lance Corporal John Bekaar Vitus. These officers were instrumental in the tactical execution of the mission that led to the arrest of six suspects involved in a series of armed robbery cases. Their professional conduct during the operation was highlighted as a model for investigative and field excellence within the Ghana Police Service.
Commending the officers for their professionalism and commitment to public safety, IGP Yohuno urged them to maintain their high standards of service. He noted that the police administration remains dedicated to rewarding merit and boosting the morale of personnel who go above and beyond the call of duty to protect Ghanaian citizens. The IGP emphasized that intelligence gathering and proactive policing are critical components in the service's broader strategy to combat organized crime across the country.
This administrative move signals a reinforced focus on security in the Upper West Region and beyond, aiming to deter criminal syndicates by showcasing the effectiveness of the police force. As the newly promoted officers assume their higher responsibilities, the Police Management Board has encouraged them to continue their exemplary service. This recognition comes at a time when the police service is intensifying efforts to ensure peace and security for all residents under the current administration.
