GRA AI-Enabled Trade Valuation Platform Generates GH¢1 Billion in Monthly Customs Revenue

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has achieved a significant milestone in national revenue mobilization, collecting GH¢1 billion in customs revenue within a single month. This record-breaking performance is attributed to the implementation of a new AI-enabled trade valuation platform, which has streamlined customs processes and enhanced the accuracy of goods valuation. The achievement underscores the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in modernizing Ghana's fiscal infrastructure and reducing revenue leakages.

Deputy Chief of Staff Nana Oye Bampoe Addo announced the milestone during the opening ceremony of the HR Café 2026 in Accra. She emphasized that the success of the AI platform is a testament to the government's strategic focus on technology to drive efficiency. By automating complex valuation tasks, the GRA has been able to increase transparency and significantly boost its collection capacity, providing the state with essential resources for development projects.

In addition to the GRA's success, the government is advancing several other digitalization initiatives designed to improve public service delivery. These include the comprehensive digitalization of the passport office to eliminate manual bottlenecks and the development of a sovereign virtual meeting platform to ensure secure government communications. Furthermore, new governance guidelines for digital presence are being established to standardize how government institutions interact with the public online.

These technological advancements are part of a broader digital-first agenda under the administration of President John Mahama. By integrating AI and other emerging technologies into the core of governance, the administration aims to build a more resilient, accountable, and efficient public sector.
