The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has issued a formal assurance to thousands of applicants participating in the 2025/2026 recruitment exercise, clarifying that those who have completed their medical examinations but are yet to receive further instructions remain active candidates. In a press statement released on August 1, 2026, the Police Administration emphasized that the recruitment process is being conducted in structured phases. This strategic approach ensures that all individuals who have cleared the medical screening stage and are awaiting document validation are still being considered for future batches of invitations. The Service reiterated that no final decisions have been made against those still waiting in the pool.
According to the statement issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the recruitment exercise is a long-term commitment scheduled to continue in successive batches through 2028. Currently, the first group of successful applicants is undergoing the critical stage of credential validation. This involves a thorough verification of academic certificates and other submitted documentation at designated centers nationwide. The GPS noted that the transition between medical clearance and final validation is a meticulous process designed to maintain high educational and professional standards, and the absence of an immediate invitation does not signify exclusion from the recruitment pool.
In light of the ongoing process, the Ghana Police Service has strongly cautioned the public against falling victim to recruitment scams. Applicants are urged to disregard misinformation circulating on social media and to rely solely on official communication channels for updates. The Police Administration further warned that the recruitment process is based strictly on merit and that no individual or group has been authorized to facilitate employment in exchange for money. Applicants have been advised to report any persons demanding fees for placement, as the Service remains committed to maintaining transparency and integrity in its enlistment procedures.
This extensive recruitment drive aligns with the broader national security and employment agenda of President John Mahama’s administration, which seeks to bolster the nation's security architecture through professional and well-vetted personnel. As the process unfolds over the next two years, the GPS encourages applicants to remain patient and prepared for future calls for validation and training. This phased expansion of the police force is expected to significantly enhance community policing and public safety across Ghana’s sixteen regions, ensuring a robust and educationally qualified force for the future.
