In a significant move to enhance the identity and competitiveness of higher education institutions, the Parliament of Ghana has approved amendments to rename three public universities. The changes include renaming the C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences to the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Navrongo; the Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies to the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies; and the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development to the University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development, Kumasi. These amendments are aimed at strengthening stakeholder engagement and aligning the universities with their geographical locations and core missions, reflecting global trends in higher education. The decision is expected to foster a more competitive academic environment and improve the institutions' visibility both locally and internationally.
