Funeral Rites Announced for Evangelist Grace Duah, Albert Ochill, and Selina Darkwa

The Ghanaian community and the Methodist Church of Ghana are preparing to bid farewell to three notable figures whose lives and contributions have left a lasting impact on their respective families and congregations. Funeral arrangements have been formally announced for Evangelist Mrs. Grace Baaba Fabiawah Duah, Mr. Albert Ochill, and Madam Selina Akua Sarpomaa Darkwa, with services scheduled to take place throughout July and August 2026 across various regions of the country. These ceremonies serve as a final tribute to their dedication to faith, family, and community service.

In Akosombo, the life of 67-year-old Evangelist Mrs. Grace Baaba Fabiawah Duah will be celebrated at the Wesley Methodist Church. The final rites are set to begin with a viewing and memorial service on Friday, July 31, 2026, followed by a private burial. The family has requested that friends and sympathizers wear black and white African prints for the Friday service. A thanksgiving service will conclude the mourning period on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the same venue, where the attire will transition to all-white, symbolizing a celebration of her spiritual legacy and lifelong service to the church.

Simultaneously, the community of Enyan Abaasa will gather to honor the memory of 74-year-old Mr. Albert Ochill. His funeral proceedings, organized by Yego Ebusuapanyin Kweku Kwandze, Nana Osebo IV, and the Freeman Methodist Church, will commence with a wake-keeping on July 31, 2026, at the Family House. The pre-burial and burial services are scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Freeman Methodist Church Cemetery, with the final funeral rites to be held at the Enyan Abasa Methodist School Park. Mr. Ochill is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cecilia Ochill, and his children, including Mrs. Cynthia Ochil Essel and Albert Ochill Junior, who will lead a thanksgiving service on August 2.

Additionally, funeral arrangements for Madam Selina Akua Sarpomaa Darkwa, affectionately known as Sister Akua, have been slated for late August. Her lying-in-state and final funeral rites will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at designated venues within the Eastern Region, followed by a thanksgiving service on Sunday, August 23. Madam Darkwa, a beloved community member, leaves behind a widower, children, and grandchildren. These upcoming services represent a period of significant reflection for the families involved, as they gather to commemorate the lives of these individuals who served as pillars in their respective communities and religious institutions.
