Bono East Regional Minister Francis Owusu Antwi has conducted an extensive inspection of major infrastructure projects in the Nkoranza South Municipality, signaling a period of significant development for the region. The tour focused on assessing the progress of critical facilities across the education, health, and justice sectors. The Minister expressed satisfaction with the ongoing works, noting that the timely completion of these projects is a priority for the government to ensure improved access to essential public services for residents. This visit highlights a broader commitment to enhancing the socio-economic landscape of the Bono East Region through targeted infrastructure investment.
In the education sector, the visit highlighted the construction of a new Nursing Training College in Akropong and major expansions at the Nkwabeng Technical Institute. The Minister emphasized the importance of the new nursing college in addressing the regional shortage of health training institutions and providing aspiring professionals with local training opportunities. Meanwhile, the Nkwabeng Technical Institute has seen a substantial surge in student enrollment, prompting government intervention to provide additional infrastructure. New dormitories and classroom blocks are currently under construction to accommodate the growing student population and enhance technical and vocational training within the municipality.
The inspection also detailed progress on vital administrative and judicial infrastructure. Municipal Chief Executive Godfred Dapaah noted that several legacy projects are moving toward completion, including a new Court Complex, which is currently 55% complete, and the Municipal Health Directorate, which has reached the 40% completion mark. These facilities are designed to improve the efficiency of the judicial system and streamline health administration. Once finished, they are expected to significantly reduce the need for residents to travel long distances for legal and health management services, bringing governance closer to the people.
Overall, the ongoing developments in Nkoranza South represent a coordinated effort to modernize the municipality’s infrastructure and support long-term growth. By focusing on both new constructions and the completion of legacy projects, authorities aim to create a robust framework for public service delivery. Local leaders remain optimistic that these enhancements will attract further investment and provide the youth with better educational and professional prospects, ultimately fostering a more resilient and self-sufficient community.
