The 6th Inter Tourism Expo and Conference (iNTTA 2026) officially opened at the Ridge Royal Hotel in Cape Coast, aiming to bridge the gap between Ghana's tourism potential and actual investment. Under the theme "The 24-Hour Africa Economy, Tourism, Agribusiness, Digital Sovereignty & AfCFTA Industrial Acceleration," the three-day event brings together investors, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to explore commercial partnerships. Executive Chairman Emmanuel Treku inaugurated the expo, emphasizing the need to transform cultural and natural assets into bankable projects that drive national economic growth and job creation.
The second day of the expo, themed "From Vision to Transactions," pivoted sharply toward mobilising capital for the sector. Panel discussions featured representatives from the Ghana Tourism Authority, the Environmental Protection Agency, and various financial institutions. The focus extended beyond traditional hospitality to include energy infrastructure, digital finance, real estate, and health tourism. Organisers are positioning the event as a platform for investment pitches, where businesses can secure the funding necessary to scale operations and strengthen local value chains across the nation.
Addressing the gathering, Treku urged the Ghanaian government to treat tourism as a strategic economic pillar rather than just a tool for cultural promotion. He argued that deeper collaboration between the tourism, agribusiness, and industrial sectors is essential for sustainable development. By linking tourism with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) goals, iNTTA 2026 seeks to position Ghana as a prime destination for the African diaspora and international investors looking for integrated commercial opportunities.
The expo's activities are scheduled to extend beyond Cape Coast into the Greater Accra and Savannah regions. This geographic spread is intended to highlight the diverse investment opportunities available throughout the country, from heritage sites in the Central Region to ecological ventures in the north. By fostering these commercial partnerships and promoting digital innovation within the tourism ecosystem, the iNTTA 2026 aims to establish a more resilient and industrially accelerated economy.
