The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has issued a series of notices regarding scheduled maintenance and emergency repair works set to disrupt power supply across several regions on Wednesday, June 10, and Thursday, June 11, 2026. The affected areas span a significant portion of the country, including the Ashanti, Tema, Accra East, Accra West, Volta, and Western Regions. According to the utility provider, these interruptions are necessary to facilitate essential maintenance activities aimed at improving the overall reliability of the national grid and addressing localized technical challenges.
On Wednesday, June 10, the outages are expected to be widespread, driven by both routine maintenance schedules and an emergency transformer fault. Residents and businesses in the Ashanti, Tema, Volta, and both Accra sectors were cautioned to prepare for disruptions as engineering teams worked to resolve the technical issues. ECG has deployed technical personnel to address the transformer fault promptly, with the goal of restoring power as soon as the integrity of the distribution network is confirmed and the necessary repairs are finalized.
For Thursday, June 11, the maintenance efforts will specifically target key areas within the Accra East and Western Regions. In Accra East, locations such as West Trassaco and Doryumu will experience outages between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Similarly, in the Western Region, power will be interrupted from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in areas including Akoon and the vicinity of the Apinto Hospital. These targeted works are part of a broader strategy to enhance service delivery and prevent future unplanned failures in these high-demand zones.
In light of these scheduled works, ECG has urged its customers in the affected communities to make the necessary alternative arrangements to mitigate the impact of the outages. The company has also emphasized the importance of safety, requesting that the public report any electrical hazards encountered during or after the maintenance period. While expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to domestic and commercial activities, ECG assured the public that its engineers are committed to completing the works within the stipulated timelines to ensure a swift return to normalcy.
