The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has officially announced a scheduled four-day maintenance exercise across the Accra East Region, resulting in planned power outages from August 10 to August 13. These daily interruptions, which are slated to occur from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, are part of the utility company’s routine efforts to improve electricity service delivery and ensure long-term grid stability. The maintenance work is essential for upgrading infrastructure and enhancing the reliability of the power supply for thousands of residents and businesses in the affected areas. The outage schedule is divided by zones to minimize widespread disruption. On the first day, Saturday, August 10, power will be interrupted in Teiman, Oyarifa, the Mr. Smith area, and parts of Ogbodjo, as well as critical locations including the Tsmasiwaa Hospital and the Ability area. On Sunday, August 11, the maintenance will shift to Ashiyie, parts of Dodowa, Tobinco, Oasis Estate, and the Manet Junction vicinity. Customers in these locations are encouraged to plan accordingly for the eight-hour daily window of downtime. As the maintenance program moves into its second half, Monday, August 12, will see interruptions in parts of Labone, Agbogba Zongo, the Adenta SDA community, and the Tot-to-teen School, as well as significant portions of Madina. The exercise is scheduled to conclude on Tuesday, August 13, with a final round of maintenance focusing on the Achimota School area. The ECG has expressed its commitment to adhering to the published timeline to ensure minimal inconvenience to the public. ECG management has advised customers in the Accra East Region to prepare for these temporary power interruptions by protecting sensitive electronic equipment and adjusting their schedules. While the company regrets the inconvenience caused by these outages, it maintains that these upgrades are vital for providing the high-quality electrical services expected by the Ghanaian public. Power is expected to be fully restored each evening by 5:00 pm upon the completion of the daily technical tasks.
