This Christmas season, various organizations in Ghana have come together to spread joy and support vulnerable communities through generous donations and outreach initiatives.
On December 25, MTN Ghana continued its annual tradition by distributing 40 baby hampers to mothers at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and Essikado Hospital in Takoradi. Kennedy Ofosuhene, MTN South-West Corporate Services Advisor, emphasized the initiative’s goal of supporting families and fostering community bonds. Hospital staff expressed gratitude for the hampers, which help alleviate financial burdens on new mothers. Veronica Inkoom, a Senior Midwife at Essikado Hospital, highlighted the need for additional support to expand maternity facilities, underscoring the importance of such initiatives.
In a separate act of kindness, God’s Grace Royal Tabernacle in Gomoa Akotsi donated food and non-food items valued at GH¢25,000 to the Village of Hope orphanage in Gomoa Fetteh. Founded by Apostle David Agyemang Badu, the church focuses on supporting orphans and vulnerable populations. The orphanage, which cares for 245 children, expressed deep gratitude for the timely assistance as it prepares to celebrate its 30th anniversary in February.
Additionally, the MyHelp-YourHelp Foundation made a significant contribution of GH¢70,000 to assist with medical bills for patients at Sogakope District Hospital. This donation included 50 hampers for mothers in the maternity ward, valued at GH¢35,000, and food items for hospital staff worth about GH¢30,000. This initiative, part of the foundation's seventh anniversary activities, aims to support needy families and aligns with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals on health. Hospital administrators acknowledged the timely support, especially given the ongoing financial challenges faced by many patients.
These outreach efforts highlight the spirit of giving and community support during the festive season, showcasing how organizations and individuals can make a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need.
