Professor Christian Agyare Inducted as 13th Vice-Chancellor of KNUST

In a grand ceremony held on August 1, 2026, Professor Christian Agyare was officially invested as the 13th Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The event, chaired by the Chancellor and Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, marked a significant leadership transition for Ghana's premier science and technology institution. Professor Agyare succeeds Professor Rita Akosua Dickson, taking the helm with a mandate to advance the university's reputation as a global hub for research, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

During the investiture, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II delivered a poignant charge to the new Vice-Chancellor, emphasizing the importance of leading with humility, fairness, and a spirit of consultation. Professor Agyare brings extensive experience to the office, having previously served as the Provost of the College of Health Sciences at KNUST. A distinguished Professor of Pharmaceutical Microbiology with over 20 years in academia, he holds degrees from KNUST and the University of Münster, Germany. With over 200 peer-reviewed publications and a history of securing significant international research funding, his academic and administrative background is expected to play a crucial role in steering the university toward its next phase of growth.
