Cape Coast Technical University Mandates AI and Soft Skills Training to Boost Graduate Employability

The Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) has announced a significant shift in its academic curriculum, making Artificial Intelligence (AI) and soft skills training mandatory for all students beginning next academic year. This initiative is designed to ensure that every graduate from the institution possesses the essential digital and interpersonal competencies required to thrive in the modern job market. Speaking at a press soiree, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, emphasized that the move is central to the university's broader strategy of producing competitive 21st-century graduates through comprehensive digital transformation.

To support this academic overhaul, CCTU is prioritizing infrastructure expansion and modernization. The university plans to increase its student enrollment from the current 7,500 to 10,000 by the end of the year, with a long-term target of reaching 30,000 students by 2030. This growth is being backed by the development of smart classrooms and improvements to digital learning facilities. Professor Boakye highlighted that infrastructure development is a key pillar in meeting the needs of an expanding student population, ensuring that the quality of education remains high despite the rapid increase in numbers.

Beyond academic instruction, the university is deepening its engagement with the community and private sector. CCTU is actively collaborating with private investors to address the growing demand for student accommodation through new housing projects. Furthermore, the institution is extending its social impact by spearheading skill training initiatives for the local community. Notably, this includes programs designed to equip prison inmates with vocational and technical skills, facilitating their successful re-entry into society and the workforce.

These strategic developments reflect CCTU’s commitment to evolving alongside the global technological landscape.
